Policy & Procedure

ADMISSION POLICY:
Park Maitland School admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin, gender, or religious affiliation to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, gender, or religious affiliation in administration of its educational and admission policies, or athletic and other school-administrated programs.

PROCEDURE:
Pre-K (K-4) and Kindergarten (K-5)...
You may become familiar with the school in multiple ways -- request printed materials; meet with our Director of Admissions, Kirsten Telan; arrange for an informative tour during a school day; and/or attend one of our three scheduled annual prospective family tours and curriculum fairs.  Once you have decided that Park Maitland is at the top of your list when your little one is ready to enter K-4 or K-5, the process is:
  • You submit a completed application form and fee.
  • Applicants are placed in our database, and you will receive a confirmation postcard from us.  You will continue to hear from us from time to time.
  • You will receive notification in the fall of the year before your child is to start of an upcoming screening day scheduled for early January.
  • The screening day is usually held on a Saturday in early January. Your child will attend this fun-filled morning or afternoon for a gentle screening to assess his/her readiness for our program. If your child is unable to attend this session, we will work with him or her individually at a time convenient for you.
  • Acceptance letters and registration materials are usually sent within two weeks of the screening with a specified time for return.
Grades 1-6:
If you are moving into the area or wanting to transfer your child from another school, either mid-year or prior to the new school year, you may also become familiar with the school in the ways noted above. Typically, a shadow visitation day is included for your child to immerse himself into a Park Maitland school day by following a class of peers. Again, once you have decided on Park Maitland, the process is:
  • You submit a completed application form and fee.
  • You schedule a date for your child to be screened (oftentimes coincides with the visitation).  This is a one-on-one process with multiple assessment opportunities, most of which are fun and interesting for your child.
  • The screening results, if necessary, will be reviewed with you.
  • An admission decision is determined by our admissions team, and you are notified of acceptance.
  • Once accepted, you will receive registration materials with a specified time for their return.
  • If your child is to start mid-year, we will work with you on the best start date, assign a "buddy", and provide school materials. Tuition and Workbook/Activity fees are prorated.
  • If your child is to start the next school year, once you return the registration materials and fee, your child is enrolled.
