Other Education Buildings & Amenities The original education buildings include the Main Building, the Cottage, the Library/Science Center and two other classroom buildings. They have a very special, quaint charm that is quintessential to the homelike atmosphere of Park Maitland School. In 2004, we installed a new turf sportsfield surface in our 'Park' - where our outdoor physical education classes are held and which is also used for special events. This surface is far superior to genuine grass (which just will not grow with such "use"), sand, or mulch. It is much safer, drier, and gentler on the joints, and it is aesthetically beautiful. Our students also enjoy the many courtyard areas and play areas scattered throughout. Lunch is eaten outside on all but inclement weather days. One of our favorite features is the dry retention pond located at the rear of the campus - it has become an outdoor horticultural classroom! We also boast of the best looking Critter Cottage anywhere. Our rabbits and small creatures of all sorts enjoy a beautiful gazebo-type structure and the students take such wonderful care of them and their home.
