Love Notes
"I thought that you would like to hear that even at the age of 27, I still remember my time at Park Maitland fondly. "It was like no school I had attended in the past and I would never find anything quite like it after moving to North Carolina and then back to Virginia. The grounds were as beautiful as any park; the fact that drama, music and art were part of the everyday curriculum is practically unheard of in today’s education system. I can still remember the train ride to Williamsburg when the teachers clothes pinned the curtains shut so no one would shout, 'Snow!' and trying on dresses for the big performance of “Hello Dolly” as a fifth grader. I have carried what I learned at Park Maitland throughout my life, to other schools, and to college at James Madison University in Virginia. I even ran into an old classmate as a sophomore in college while visiting a friend at the University of Virginia. "Now as a mother of a three year old daughter I am already thinking about sending her off to school in 18 months for Pre-K. Although I could wish to find a school like Park Maitland to send her to, I don’t know that it can be matched. Your mother dedicated herself to Park Maitland so much, that my mom still remembers that she cried whenever any student left before finishing the 6th grade. I hope that my daughter Taylor has a teacher who has a passion for students as much as she did. Looking at the pictures on the web site, I can see that although the face of Park Maitland has changed greatly since my time there, the heart of the school has remained the same. I wish Park Maitland much continued success in the future!" |
